Mail Security

This is a hosted service through which you may direct both your incoming and outgoing mail – even if you do not host a mail server with us. Functions of this service include:

Scanning of all incoming mail (and optionally outgoing at no extra cost) for:

Viruses (computer programs that copy themselves and infect computers)
Malware (malicious software which infiltrates a computer system without the owner's informed consent)
Spyware (type of malware that is installed on computers and collects little bits information at a time about users without their knowledge)
Spam (the abuse of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately)
Banned Attachments (only certain types of attachments allowed to be passed through, other types quarantined or rejected)
Unsuitable images (optional - a scanning system that detects potential pornographic images added as attachments and prevents delivery)
PCI compliance (optional – emails quarantined if they are found to contain whole credit card numbers and administrator alerted)

End user quarantine release – mail that the system is not sure about is quarantined and a mail sent to the end user with details of the mail and a link allowing them to release if required
Mail continuity - If your server is down we will hold mail for up to 7 days and forward when your server is back online
Hosted mail (optional) – we can act as your mail server for up to 7 days while your server is being repaired – this is an extra service and only for temporary use.
Disclaiming service – we can append a standard company legal disclaimer to each outgoing email to meet Companies Act regulations for electronic messaging
Control Panel - Larger customers can also have a private control panel login to view and control their own domain settings

In testing, the amount of mail reaching our mail servers was reduced by up to 95%, meaning the mail server efficiency is greatly increased and is able to deal with higher workloads with less resources. An added advantage is that outgoing mail passed through our system has the benefit of being pre-scanned and coming from a registered safe IP range, which reduces its own spam score and helps improve deliverability of your own mail – so less bounces of mail to your customers. This service works with both mail servers and web servers for outgoing mail, so you can scan website generated mail and improve deliverability. This does require advanced control of your domain DNS to add records to allow your mail to come from a different IP range from your mail servers, which we can help you with.

Please be aware this does require changes to your DNS settings and therefore you need to have control over your domain DNS settings or use our Hosted DNS service where you get full control with your own control panel. Please also note this service will only work where you own your own domain, we cannot provide this service for personal accounts like Hotmail, Gmail, etc.
