Hosted Physical Servers

We offer hosting for dedicated physical servers that may either be supplied by us under a lease rental agreement, or by the customer as a co-location arrangement.

Leased dedicated servers are provided to the specifications you require at a minimum contract length of 12 months. You will have full root/admin access to the server and be able to load whatever software you require on to it. Additionally we can also offer to supply software such as SQL Server or Exchange on a monthly rental basis, which then means you can control your expenditure without large up-front costs. We do make a charge to initially set the server up, and this is variable depending on the complexity of the server configuration, but in general is around £250 per server. Monthly rentals vary depending on the configuration of the server chosen, and are quoted on an individual basis to take account of the market conditions as they are purchased to order. Once you have entered into the hosting agreement the monthly charges are not varied for the equipment, although extreme events such as large power cost increases may have to be passed on as a surcharge as power and its related costs of cooling are a big factor in hosting a physical server.

Should you want to host your own equipment with us that is no problem, as we can offer you a co-location arrangement. We will provide the rack space, power, and connectivity to enable your server to be reached from the Internet and you will then be able to manage the equipment. We will always be on hand to deal with problems that you can't manage remotely, such as attaching a KVM device to be able to see the console if you have problems and can't access the server.

In single server co-location arrangements you share a rack with other customers so we cannot allow customer or vendor engineer attendance to the rack. In cases where work on the server is required either our engineers can perform the task or the server can be moved to a build room for your or the vendor engineers to work on.

For larger implementations and where customer access to equipment is important we can supply entire private racks. These are 24U or 42U racks supplied with power and a network feed and then how you configure the rack contents is entirely up to you. We will provide onsite engineer assistance and you are also free to visit your equipment 24x7 to make changes - similarly we can allow vendor engineers access to the rack in the event of failures they support.

With all types of physical server hosting the server is provided as is and any further requirements such as firewall, backups, or enhanced management would need to be requested separately. This allows customers to pick exactly what they want in a hosting package without being given extra features they don't need but yet have to pay for.
