Hosting Options
In addition to your hosting or co-location package
you may wish to select from a number of our additional
services, these are exactly the same for either
leased or co-located equipment.
- Hardware Firewall.
Under basic hosting you would share our
hardware firewall to protect your server, but
for an extra charge you can have a fully managed
hardware firewall with ports set to your specifications
and the ability to modify them at the inclusive
monthly charge:
- Shared Firewall - add £30 per month,
extra charge if we provide VPN services
- Dedicated Firewall - from £90 per
month, depending on specification. This
would allow you to controll your own firewall
settings, and we can offer high availability
models for critical applications.
- Load Balancer.
We can supply you with a Zeus ZXTM load balancer
either as a hardware unit or as software on
some VMWare hosting packages. We can also offer
global load balancing between separate sites
to offer truly automatic cut over in case one
site is lost. This is a special option that
requires the load balancer to be at a third
independent site from the two sites your web
applications are hosted - call for more details.
- VPN. We can
set up either site-to-site or client VPNs for
you via a hardware firewall. This allows you
to access your server with greater security
as public access to the servers can be locked
down further. This service is free of charge
but you must have either one of our shared or
dedicated firewall packages or your own co-located
firewall to take advantage of this service.
- Management.
We can fully manage your server in addition
to the basic monitoring we provide with hosting.
The server can be added to our patch management
system and kept up to date with the latest patches
for £25 per month. We can also fully manage
and administer the server if you require, quotations on request.
This provides advanced monitoring and remote
access facilities and we will fix any potential
problems on your server to reduce the possibility
of downtime. This is equivalent to your own
IT administrator for a fraction of the cost
of employing one. There are grades of management
in between these so contact us for an exact
quotation.
- Backups. According
to a recent survey carried out by the University
of Texas Center for Research on Information
Systems, 50% of companies that lose data in
a disaster scenario never re-open, and 90% are
out of business within two years. Can you really
afford to take the risk of not having critical
server data backed up? We can supply Network
Attached Storage, accessible from your server as a network
drive. 10Gb of storage is just £10 per
month (includes private network connection with
unlimited bandwidth on second network card in
your server), with extra space available from
just 30p per Gb per month, depending on quantity.
- Disaster Recovery.
This is a very specific requirement and you
would need to have services hosted at two locations.
We offer a backup for your services and optional
automatic cut over via global load balancing,
although this is not a required option and you
can manage your own DNS though our hosted
DNS services to point to the DR site in
the event of an outage at the main site. Because
every business is different, with different
requirements, you would need to talk
to us to determine the best configuration
for this service.
Firewall and VPN charges are per customer, not
server, so can cover multiple servers hosted with
us. Management charges are per server. Backup
allocations are generally per server as they are
presented as network drives on that server via
an internal private network, however you can have
shared backup space between your own servers to
reduce costs by volume allocations of space. Contact
